Meet our mother-daughter team and proud owners of Sunflowers Day Care

Nina comes from a small European Country called Latvia. From an early age she had a curious mind and a strong desire to teach.

She began her career in the early 1979, as an instructor at Youth Railroad in Riga, Latvia. Later that year she joined a public kindergarten as an Early Childhood Educator. Through out her experience at the railroad and kindergarten Nina had kept the dream of teaching in the classroom alive and in 1983 she begun to teach in public schools.

After 9 years of teaching grades 1 through 5 with a standard USSR method, Nina came across  an article for an upcoming seminar on Waldorf Education. She fell in love with this nurturing and natural approach to education and submerged herself into Waldorf pedagogy since 1992. She has gained various certifications from Latvia, Russia, Germany and Sweden. Nina holds a Bachelors of Education from the University of Latvia and is Internationally Certified in Waldorf Pedagogy.

Today you can find Nina at Sunflowers, teaching young parents and children. As well as giving private Russian language lessons to children from 4 years and up.

“Waldorf Education is based on a profound understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child. Waldorf teachers strive to transform education into an art that educates the whole child—the heart and the hands, as well as the head.”-
